The first home try came in the second minute from a kick ahead with the Saltash left winger Lewis Stuart touching down. He crossed the line again after receiving a pass by Lewis Wells after 5 minutes which was converted by Ryan Cruickshanks. St Austell hit back and drove through the Ashes defence for a try 3 minutes later but a penalty by Ryan Cruickshanks increased Saltash's lead (15-5). Play continued to be from one end to the other until the 39th minute when following a scrum close to the Ashes line St Austell pushed over for a converted try. Immediately Saltash went up and Lewis Wells charged over under the posts for a converted try to put them 22-12 at the interval.
The second period was only 2 minutes old when Danny Snook crossed for a converted try to further increase the Ashes advantage but a big effort from St Austell's forwards saw them push over the home line (29-17). From then onwards the visitors fell away and tries were scored regularly by Ryan Cruickshanks, Lewis Woolaway (2), Ryan Rayner (2), Lewis Stuart and Danny Snook. Ryan Cruickshanks was in good kicking form and added nine conversions plus a penalty. This was a good performance by Saltash which resulted in all the hard work in training being transferred into their game and showed that this is now an 80 minute side. Billy Dover, Lewis Stuart and Ryan Rayner had particularly outstanding games.
