Redruth took the lead after 5 minutes with a penalty, but a yellow card reduced the home side to 14 before Greg Eatwell put Saltash in front 3 minutes later with a good try which was converted by Ryan Cruickshanks. Another yellow card followed for Saltash but it did not deter them from extending their lead after 12 minutes with another Greg Eatwell try (12-3). Redruth hit back strongly with a converted try following a penalty near to the home line (25 minutes) and took the lead 5 minutes later with a try. Exchanges were even at this stage with both sides pushing hard for the advantage at the interval (12-15).
The second period was only 2 minutes old when Will Morton crossed for his first of his four tries, but again a yellow card for another unclear misdemeanour by a Saltash player reduced the home side to 14. Ryan Rayner then touched down (54 minutes) with Saltash beginning to take control of the game with their flowing rugby (22-15). Tries for the Ashes then came at regular intervals from Will Morton (3), Axel Nicks, Devon Bennett-Murray and Lewis Stuart. Billy Dover kicked two conversions. This was a good team performance by Saltash after being well tested by Redruth in the first half with Tom Hollyman on his debut putting in an impressive shift.
