Saltash hit back with some determined play and were rewarded when Lewis Wells crashed over and Ryan Cruickshanks converted to equal the score after 20 minutes. Eight minutes later James Noel Johnson kicked a penalty to put the home side 10-7 up at the interval although the Ashes edged the first half.
The second period started with Liskeard on top and Saltash, having made some changes defending well to stop going even further behind. At this stage it looked as though it was going to be a home victory but Will Morton crossed after 62 minutes with a good try which Lewis Stuart converted to put Saltash into a 14-10 lead. Saltash were now playing with great spirit and Will Morton sealed the win with his second try again converted by Lewis Stuart. Liskeard battled to get back into the game but the Ashes held on to gain a well deserved derby victory with all the squad putting in outstanding performances and gaining their second win in succession and the first win of the season away from Moorlands Lane.
