This will be a final to forget for the Ashes 2nd string as they were blown out of the water by a pacey, determined Medics side that had power to burn.

The students scored at regular intervals from all parts of the pitch and were 48-0 up at the break. The one main highlight was a 60 yarder from Medics prop George Coe.

The second period saw Saltash claw their way back with little reward. Again the Students scored at will and it wasn't until the 68th minute that the Ashes were on the board through Scrum Half Brett Jennison. Centre Sam Snell doubled thr Ashes tally on 78 monitors with a second try but it was the Students who rounded off the route to take the Ellis Cup.
