For the visitors, prop Simon Nance was making his 300th 1st XV appearance and the Ashes also welcomed back Skipper James Moriarty off the bench where he added a try on his return.
It was Nance who stood out as he managed 2 long range tries (one in each half).
The Ashes took some time to settle into the game having had a couple of weeks away and scored through right wing Will Morton followed shortly afterwards by hooker Rob Walsh. Over on the left wing, Lewis Stuart scored along with Nance's 40 yard try, coupled with 2 conversions from Jack Pritchard and one from Ryan Cruikshanks for a 26-0 lead at the break.
Into the 2nd period and the hosts scored a converted try in the 46th minute to close the gap to 26-7.
Saltash upped their game in the 2nd half and scored through No 8 Ryan Rayner (2) and Moriarty. Nance then scored a lung buster from 45 yards. Further tries came from Morton(2) and Walsh. Cruikshanks added 2 conversions and Snook the last to seal the win.
Unlucky not to score was flanker Fin Jones off the bench who made plenty of yardage and prop Liall Honey was at his rampaging best.
