The game was switched from Moorlands Lane due to the state of the pitch and both sides endeavoured to produce an entertaining display with mistakes being made due to the greasy ball. The Oaks took the lead after 5 minutes with Duncan crossing for an unconverted try which was quickly answered after 10 minutes when Ryan Cruickshanks went over for Kieran Down to convert (7-5). Following a penalty the Oaks regained the lead through a try by A Taylor which P Keanie converted after 25 minutes. Six minutes later Kieran Down kicked a penalty to take the interval score to 10-12.
The Ashes started the second half on top but a kick ahead by the visitors after 53 minutes resulted in a try by R. Spencer which Keanie converted (!0-19). The lead was extended shortly afterwards with a converted Taylor try. Saltash battled back and Andrew Walsh raced clear down the left wing to touch down for an unconverted try after 70 minutes to complete the scoring. The conditions played a big part in the match which ended in an Oaks double over the Ashes.
