The home side's forwards controlled the initial stages which resulted in tries after 13, 18, 20, 28 and 40 minutes with 4 conversions. Kieran Down crossed the home line after 33minutes and converted to put the visitors on the scoreboard.
The Ashes got off to a great start in the second half and replacement Lewis Wells touched down after 44minutes and quickly scored another try 5 minutes later which Kieran Down converted (33-19). Saltash were reduced in numbers due to injuries and Tavistock took advantage and got a try following a kick ahead after 55 minutes and further increased their lead with a penalty 10 minutes later (41-19). Saltash fought back well and Andrew Walsh managed a try which was improved upon by Kieran Down but it was not enough to change the final result. The Ashes gained a bonus point from the spirited second half performance with Fin Jones and Kristian Davis putting in excellent displays, as did replacement Lewis Wells with two tries until he was forced off with an injury.
This was a game that Saltash could have won if they had got a better start and played more consistently.
