After early pressure the Ashes took the lead with a try by Jay Moriarty in the corner within 7 minutes which was well converted by Kieran Down. Cullompton gradually worked their way back into the game and were rewarded after 25 minutes with a try close to the posts by A.Stoneman and fullback J.Luxon added the extra points to level the score at halftime (7-7).
Saltash opened the second period at pace and Lewis Woolaway raced in for a 49th minute try which was closely followed 4 minutes later with a try by Andrew Walsh which again was converted by Kieran Down (19-7). The Ashes seemed to be getting a firm grip on the match but on the hour S.Budgett got a touch down for the visitors to reduce the home lead (19-12). A missed penalty which hit the post after 65 minutes by Saltash seemed to give Cullompton a lift and from a penalty close to the home line J.Unwin got a try which was converted by J.Luxon to bring the score level. Cullompton continued to press but good defending by the Saltash side kept them from snatching a win. Forwards Ryan Simmons, Ben Simmons and Liall Honey stood out for Saltash while the backs kicked well for position especially after the interval.
