They opened the scoring after 7 minutes with a well worked try by Jay Moriarty following a good break by Ryan Cruickshanks which was converted by Kieran Down. Cruickshanks extended the lead 5 minutes later with his own try and Moriarty touched down again to put the visitors 17-0 ahead. Saltash were producing some good running rugby but were pegged back by Hayle with a converted try. Jay Moriarty then ran in his third try before Danny Snook got onto the scoresheet after 33 minutes for Kieran Down to convert to take the Ashes interval lead to 29-7.
Within 10 minutes into the second half fullback Ryan Cruickshanks had crossed for two more tries (one converted by Kieran Down) which again followed good play between the backs to increase the Ashes lead to 41-7. Hayle came back at their visitors by scoring a converted try after 54 minutes but for a period there was some broken play by both sides. Hard working Lewis Wells went in close to the posts to get a try which Kieran Down converted after 68 minutes and Dale Thompson increased the Saltash lead with a try converted by the reliable boot of Kieran Down who also added the points to a late Devan Marshall try. The home side completed the scoring in the final seconds of the game with a converted try. Hayle battled hard against a slick moving Ashes side but were unable to contain them.
Despite the early injury setbacks Saltash played well and got a deserved away win with Fin Jones, Aidan Marshall, Ben Simmons enjoying very good performances and scrum half Jack Pritchard controlling the play behind the pack.
